Ruaha National Park is the largest national park in Tanzania, covering an area of approximately 20,226 square kilometers (7,809 square miles). Located in central Tanzania, in the heart of the country. It is situated in the southern part of the country, bordered by the Great Ruaha River to the east and the Mzombe River to the west. The park is part of the larger Rungwa-Kizigo-Muhesi ecosystem. The park is home to one of the largest elephant populations in East Africa, as well as significant numbers of lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and crocodiles. It is also a haven for birdwatchers, with over 570 bird species recorded within its boundaries.
