Saadani National Park is a unique conservation area located on the
northern coast of Tanzania, where the Indian Ocean meets the East
African savannah. Approximately 45 kilometers (28 miles) northwest
of the city of Bagamoyo and about 100 kilometers (62 miles)
northwest of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's largest city. It is the
only coastal wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania. Saadani National Park
is home to a variety of wildlife species, including elephants,
buffaloes, lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles,
and numerous antelope species such as impalas and waterbucks. The
park's coastal waters support a rich diversity of marine life,
including dolphins, turtles, and various fish species.
Unique features of Saadani National Park are its access to
pristine sandy beaches along the Indian Ocean coastline. Visitors
can enjoy beach safaris, sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and
beachcombing, making it an ideal destination for a safari and
beach holiday combined. While boat safaris provide excellent
opportunities for wildlife viewing, birdwatching, and observing
